Where
to take your kids?
Which
theme park is the best for me and my family, especially, if you have
smaller kids that can’t go on many rides where certain height is
required? There are many options, the question is, how to find the right
choice for you. Who should I believe? My favorite is always a referral
from people or sources that I know. For that reason I thought I would
share what I’ve learned in that regard so far.

Running
Where
to run when you are in unknown city and how to measure a distance without
GPS watch and mileage markers?
Most runners I know prefer to
run outside. Streets are fine but trails are better since many of them
offer mileage markers (important for those without GPS watches) and they
are free of motor traffic. In
Northern Virginia
area there are some really nice trails for running, such as The
Washington and Old Dominion Trail or Mount
Vernon Trail but there are numerous shorter, less visited and not as
well maintained trails that you discover in a course of time.
Good source to search for
trails and with abundance of other useful information about running is Road
Runners Club of America. That’s where I also found a route
or distance measuring tool, which enables you to find out a distance
you have run when you visited unknown territory and didn’t have a GPS
watch.
So, on my recent trip to
Harrisburg
,
Pennsylvania
, I went on my regular morning run into unknown. I hadn’t done any
research in advance to find out if there were any trails and was
pleasantly surprised when I hit the Capital
Area GreenBelt, which is about 20 mile loop around the wider city
area. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to run the entire trail but
parts that I covered were almost entirely shaded and nicely maintained.
The only thing I was missing were mileage markers, which I saw later on
other parts of the trail.
In many ways the trail, the
city and people that came and walk the trail during their lunch hour
reminded me of another great running state capital,
Austin
,
Texas
. Especially that part of the trail that runs along the Susquehanna River
and in many ways resembles trails around
Lake
Travis
in
Austin
.
