Dear SlovInUS News readers,

Another month has passed and here is a new issue of the newsletter. I am pleased to report that responses we are getting from you, our members, are very positive and encouraging, which is nice. But it gets even better.

More and more members see the newsletter as a tool to connect with other members of Slovenian communities and to promote their business/hobby/activity that they are involved with, which is the main reason why this media was established.

This issue was basically entirely written by some of our members. They wanted to share with us information about their businesses and other activities that might be of interest to wider Slovenian communities and our friends.

Right underneath the introduction you will find an announcement for the US premiere of ONEWORLD, a dance/theater/poetry production that our member Marta is managing. The event is coming up in August, so make sure you read the announcement to learn more about the event and where to get tickets.

Another member, John from New York, is putting together a ski vacation in Canada at the beginning of 2009. He's been doing this since 1992 and I've been told those trips are fun. Read more about the ski vacation and how you can join John here>>.

Last but not least is Urska from San Diego. Her family company Commercial Network Services has become first regular contributor to the SlovInUS News. In each issue they will show us something new about computers and related technology. In this one you can learn how to set up a streaming video web cam.

Share your favorite recipe and win a prize

A friend of mine suggested to publish a recipe of a Slovenian food in each issue. It was a wonderful idea but where would I get them? I don't have any really and it didn't feel right to copy them from Sister Vendelina's Cookbook, for example.

So I thought maybe some of you would be willing to share a recipe or two of your favorite Slovenian dish that you proudly make when you like to share a piece of your heritage with your American friends.

To make it a bit more fun, I thought in addition, it can be some sort of a competition but it has to be simple. Now, rules will be defined the latest by the end of August, when next issue of SlovInUS News comes out. For now we know this:

	winner will be chosen by SlovInUS News members (that's you guys), who will vote for their favorite recipe and the one with most votes will win
	recipes can be already sent in
	each person can send maximum three recipes
	we will stop collecting recipes at the end of November 2008
	voting will take place from December 1 to December 15
	winner will be announced on December 18

So, start sending your recipes in. Send them to SlovInUSNews@pesjak.com with My Favorite Recipe in subject line. . Make sure you include your name and contact information (email and phone).
