| Before we go to books we have to mention a reading device
that many people are saying will revolutionize the book world and wider.
So far, there have been two items: Sony's Reader and Amazon's Kindle.
Seems like Kindle is a step ahead with its wireless option and immediate
availability of newspapers, books and more. For more information click

A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose (Oprah's Book Club, Selection 61)
|
Eckhart Tolle |
Bernard Pesjak |
|
According
to Tolle, who assumes the role of narrator as well, humans are on the
verge of creating a new world by a personal transformation that shifts
our attention away from our ever-expanding egos. This idea is well
realized through Tolle's remarkably well-paced narration. Naturally, the
author understands his material so thoroughly that he is able to convey
it in an enjoyable manner, but Tolle's gentle tone and dialect begs his
audience's attention simply through its straightforward approach.
Something about this reading just seems profoundly important, whether
one agrees with the material or not, and listeners' attention is sure to
be captured within seconds of listening to Tolle's take on the universe
in which we live. |

The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment
|
Eckhart Tolle |
Bernard Pesjak |
|
Ekhart
Tolle's message is simple: living in the now is the truest path
to happiness and enlightenment. And while this message may not seem
stunningly original or fresh, Tolle's clear writing, supportive voice,
and enthusiasm make this an excellent manual for anyone who's ever
wondered what exactly "living in the now" means. Foremost,
Tolle is a world-class teacher, able to explain complicated concepts in
concrete language. More importantly, within a chapter of reading this
book, readers are already holding the world in a different
container--more conscious of how thoughts and emotions get in the way of
their ability to live in genuine peace and happiness. |

The Flowering of Human Consciousness: Everyone's Life Purpose

Eckhart Tolle |
Bernard Pesjak |
|
| This is what a
reviewer wrote on Amazon.com about this DVD: "I'm a 30 year
meditator, near-death experiencer, student of the Rapture, Enlightenment
and Nirvana experiences. Tolle had been mentioned several times by
friends who said it sounded like what I was talking about. Wow, were
they right! Tolle's perspective is new to me, and has expanded my
awareness right back to the edge of my best experience. If you are a
seeker, grab any of his messages and you will find new joy. order now or
call your librarian, just get your hands on this info. This DVD is a
slow starter for those in a hurry...start on the 2nd disk. The exercises
will will build new spirit muscles. Love. |

The Celestine Prophecy
|
James Redfield |
Bernard Pesjak |
|
The
Celestine Prophecy may not be the best book on this planet but it offers
some interesting thought provoking ideas, such as human evolution will
shift from material to consciousness, which many authors and modern
thinkers say as well. However, the book was written 15+ years ago when
internet and cell phone were at their very early stage. |

the author offers a good plan to get in touch with your soul and energy
to heal your body and to promote good health and longevity. |

You'll See It When You Believe It: The Way to Your Personal Transformation
|
dr. Wayne Dyer |
Bernard Pesjak |
|
Listening
to Wayne Dyer is always enjoyable. He is a very good speaker and always
add just the right amount of humor to his talks. You'll See It When You
Believe It is as all other author's work inspiration and reminds us (or
explains, if you prefer it that way) with simple examples, why we
shouldn't believe only what we see (In that case, why are you paying the
electric bill.) And when you think a little bit you'll realize it has
already happen for you in the past as well. Namely, that what you'd
first believed in later really happened, maybe we just didn't
"connect" all the dots at the time. |

The Secrets of the Power of Intention: Live Lecture (6-CD Set)
|
dr. Wayne Dyer |
Bernard Pesjak |
|
The Secret of the Power of Intention
helps us understand how the universe and our lives work. It all makes so
much sense and yet we ignore it intentionally or unintentionally most of
the time. However, just a tiny shift is needed in order to start
benefiting from what it has been available all this time but was not in
our field of awareness. |

The Housing Boom and Bust: Revised Edition
|
Thomas Sowell |
Bernard Pesjak |
|
| Author describes why
did house prices in the US rise so rapidly from 2000 to 2006 and why
they dropped so drastically afterwards. Pretty good overlook but he is
not going really into much depth plus he tends to repeats himself. The
book could be one fourth of its volume and still bring the information
it brings now. |

| Choosing Your Own Greatness |
dr. Wayne Dyer |
Bernard Pesjak |
|
Wayne
Dyer is my favorite. I prefer to listen to him because he is a great,
entertaining, funny, and uplifting speaker. If you sit in a car for 20
minutes a day get any of his CDs, listen to them and enjoy. You will not
only stop stressing out about traffic jams but you simply won't care
anymore. And you will know that there is always a parking spot available
to you as long as you believe that. |

The
main title may mislead you. The book is really about what subtitle
suggests - Foolproof steps to financial peace of mind. There are no big
business ideas that will help you accumulate millions of $$$ but rather,
as one reviewer suggested: the author "... the reader to get into
the right fame of mind and then to pick up the right goals." After
that you should pick up a book that gives you some big business
ideas. |

| Think and Grow Rich |
Napoleon Hill |
Bernard Pesjak |
|
| "Granddaddy of
All Motivational Literature" as this classic work, first published
in 1937, is also called, is a must read. The author went around and
asked some of the most successful people of that time about their
successes, recorded their answers, analyzed them, and published his
conclusions in the book. Don't get mistaken - the book is not really
about business successes. It openes questions every person should
ask her/himself at least once in a lifetime. |

| The Joy of Living |
Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche |
Bernard Pesjak |
|
Similar
to Dalai Lama this young Buddhist monk Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche points
out parallels between modern science and Buddhism but feels like his
writing is a bit more "relaxed". Also, he brilliantly explains
how to meditate and, for those who have already tried but found it
difficult, how to overcome those obstacles. |

This
is more a guide or workbook for those who don't know where and how to
start meditating. After brief introduction you are explained first
meditation technique and off you go. 8 minutes per day for next seven
days. After a week you read next chapter and familiarize yourself with
next technique and you are good again for seven days. And so on for two
months. The author guarantees you will feel a change in your life at the
end of this period and I am happy to confirm that. It's easy, enjoyable,
relaxing and beneficial. |

| How to See Yourself as You Really Are |
Dalai Lama |
Bernard Pesjak |
|
Steve
Burns, one of the reviewers on Amazon.com summarized this book's
teachings so nicely we decided to borrow it:
"We are not our body, nor even our mind. if we
were we could not say my mind or my body. Then what are we? We are
"like" and illusion existing through our 5 aggregates, body,
thoughts, feelings, perceptions, and consciousness. No "I"
can be located. The closest we can come is understanding that we are
consciousness observing the present moment, all else is thought and
mental formation. Who we think we really are is just a mental
formation we hold in our mind of our beliefs about ourselves our
religion, height, weight, name, etc. Enlightenment is simply
understanding this and the nature of reality."

| Quantum Healing |
Deepak Chopra |
Bernard Pesjak |
|
At
the beginning of the book the author asks interesting question: "Why,
when your body mends a broken arm, is it not considered a miracle, but
when your body rids itself of cancer, it is?" Chopra believes the
two phenomena spring from the same well, that the body is capable of
doing much more than we assume it can. He calls this ability to cure
disease from within "quantum healing," and shows how we're all
capable of it. |

The
first time I read Slovene translation years ago. This time I read it in
English.
It is about the poorest people of the poor in India who live either on
the street or in the most devastating slums in Calcutta. What
really touched me are stories about people that are struggling for
survival themselves, jet caring so much for their neighbors. I respect
my life and what I have much more after reading this book. |

| Waking Up in Time |
Peter Russell |
Bernard Pesjak |
|
This
book was first published in early 1990s under a different title - The
White Holes in Time. Some five years later the author revised it and put
it out again in 1998. The reason I mention all these dates is because
the book talks about accelerating speed with which changes take place in
modern world and we all know how much have changed within last 11 years.
However, the book is still very relevant and worth picking it up if you
can still find it through used book sellers or in a library. After
reading this book a person may recognize nonsense of increasing demands
of our material world and a need for spiritual awakening in order to
save themselves. |

of feeling a need to go out and start running immediately. |

| Once a Runner |
John L. Parker, Jr. |
Bernard Pesjak |
|
I
first heard about this book in early 2008. It was out of print and
selling on used book markets and ebay fro $250+. I am not kidding. Few
weeks ago I was lucky to get advance reader's edition in my hands
(Release date of new edition is scheduled for April 7, 2009.) I started
reading it with great expectations, especially after hearing things such
as: "The best novel ever written about running" or "The
best piece of running fiction around. Beg, borrow, or buy a copy, and
you'll never need another motivator." I admit, first 100 pages were
so-so, then in the middle it started getting pretty interesting and last
third of the book I could not put it down. It was like reading some
intense mystery/thriller novel. "There is a remarkable parallel
between the pacing of this novel and a well-run race." somebody
said about this book. How very true. Even if you have never run, you'll
like this one. |
