Change
your mind to change your money situation
SlovInUS
News™ talked to Sharon Meisel, one of the only 13 certified
coaches of the Chellie Campbell’s world renowned Financial
Stress Reduction Workshop. Sharon, who is based in Virginia,
explained the main reasons why people get into stressful financial
situations and how the workshop can help them, not only to get out
of debt, but to stay out of it forever and at the same time create
financial and personal prosperity.
Who
should take this workshop?
It’s
mostly for business owners, people in sales, and people who are
just starting a business or anyone who wants to improve their
financial wisdom. Let me give you an example by telling you a true
story:
A
woman in one of the workshops came because she wanted to learn
about financial principles since she was planning on divorcing her
husband. He made a lot of money but worked all of the time and
never gave her enough to run the household. During the workshop it
was suggested she build positive affirmations around her husband
and her thoughts about money. During the week designed for budgets
she showed it to her husband who was surprised he made so much
money and how little he gave her to run the household. A few
weeks later she noticed an extra $10,000 in her account. She asked
her husband about the money and he had made the deposit and
apologized for not giving her enough to run the household. At the
end of the workshop everyone was sharing what they had received
from the workshop. She said she had received everything she
came for except one…a divorce.
The
workshop will help those who want to make changes in their lives.
Money just seems to be the root of most of the stress. Now,
if you are a business owner the cost of the workshop can represent
a business expense and is, as such, tax deductible. As a business
owner you may have more opportunities and resources available to
implement many of the things that you learn during the workshop.
They know they create their income and will be able to create more
when they change the way they think about money. An employee
sometimes sees his income as capped by his employer.
However, by changing how they relate to money and desiring a more
abundant life, they can attract a new and better job or find a
business opportunity that would generate another stream of income.
.
How
is your workshop different from other workshops and seminars that
teach you how to handle money?
The
main difference is that our workshop deals with the thought
process behind it. Most workshops teach just pure money
management: how to read numbers, balance sheets, income statements
and so on, which is important. But they don’t help you to change
the way you think about the money. For example, they can probably
help you get out of debt but if at the same time they don’t
teach you how to change the way you think about
debt, the cause of the behavior, you will most likely get back
into debt because you didn’t change the behavior. We pay a lot
of attention to positive thinking, what you are taught about
money, what your parents taught you about it. What did they say
when you asked them for money: “Money doesn’t grow up on
trees,” and similar negative statements that are engraved in our
subconscious. That’s why we write down those associations at the
beginning of the course and revisit them at the end to see how our
attitude towards money has changed.
Money
is just a tool and we need it to live in this world. There
is no reason you can’t have all that you want. But we have these
attitudes and beliefs in our subconscious that controls our
behavior toward money. Some times our religious up bringing is
responsible. Or if your parents always criticized wealthy people
then what would they think of you if you became wealthy. And much
of those thoughts we are not even aware of but they do control our
behavior.
So,
should we not focus on goals such as “I want to make $100,000
next year!”?
It’s
important to write down how much you want to make, what you will
do with the money, but most important, what will you do for that
money. What service will you provide? “How many people do
I need to help get what they want and need to get what I want and
need?”
Goals
are like magnets, they attract the resources to make them happen.
A quick story about a woman who successfully swam the
English Channel
and broke a record. She decided to swim from
Palos Verdes
,
CA
to
Catalina Island
, 26 miles of cold, shark infested waters. That didn’t bother
her but after 15 hours of swimming the fog rolled in and she
couldn’t see her goal, the shore. She gave up just a half
mile from shore. A few months later she decided to try again.
Again the water was cold and shark infested and the fog rolled in.
But this time she had a picture in her mind of the shore, her
goal. She continued toward that picture and broke another record.
What we build in our minds, focus on and take action toward, we
will achieve. It is what helps us to overcome the obstacles which
are guaranteed to come.
Please
tell us more about specifics of the workshop?
Like
so many 1, 2 and 3 day workshops and seminars, they give you a lot
of great information. It’s like taking a drink from a fire hose.
But you get home and think, “Now what do I do?” They
give information but not application. Most of these large
organizations know that 99% of everyone who attends is not going
to implement enough to make the radical changes they came to get.
So they offer very expensive coaching and week long seminars and
workshops. And if you pursue them you will be more likely to
succeed.
The
Financial Stress Reduction workshop is an 8-week course with
a meeting once a week with 5-10 participants. Each session lasts
for two and a half hour. During those weeks you will learn how to
easily and effortlessly create more money, eliminate debt and have
more time off to enjoy your life. In this exciting, hands-on
workshop you will learn to apply the information to
change the negative habits that keep you locked in lack. You will
be inspired and taught how to change your financial life forever!
What
happens after the workshop?
We
can continue to meet once a month as a type of mastermind group to
continue to reinforce and reconnect with each other. I will also
offer one-on-one coaching sessions. The advantage of a group is
there is more support. When others see they aren’t the only ones
struggling with these issues they become encouraged and learn how
others have overcome the same issues. We celebrate
everyone’s “wins” and offer creative ideas for other
solutions.
Sounds
like you workshop helps people deal not only with their financial
matters but also their personal issues.
Yes,
it does. Because it is about changing the way you think. That can
be applied in all aspects of our lives not only in financial
matters. What you focus on expands. If you focus on the good in
every situation, you attract more good. Similarly, if you focus on
the bad things, it also expands. When you change the
way you look at things, the things you look at change.
Take
an example of a married couple who grew apart in their
relationship. In most cases all the reasons why they fell in love
in first place, are still there. But they won’t see them until
they start focusing on them. Most couples focus on what doesn’t
make relationship work and that’s what expands. By refocusing
their attention to what brings them together they have a good
chance of making their marriage work. Build positive affirmations
around your partner and what happens is you start to see them
differently, you then treat them differently, and in many cases
they start to respond and they change too. Marriage
doesn’t create problems it just reveals them. And when the
going gets too tough, too many give up without understanding how
some simple steps can repair any relationship.
Focus
on good things, and you will learn to appreciate them and love
them.
Your
workshop helps people with handling their material issues, but
what about finding their inner peace? How do you deal with a
highly developed spiritual being, such as Gandhi and his
philosophy?
That
was Gandhi’s choice. Most of us can’t spend all day praying
for peace. Most of us have to work and earn money and have a
different life. Where we get into trouble with material things is
when we think we have to have it to make us happy. Things
will never make you happy. Happiness and peace have to come
from within. You can have anything you want as long as you
don’t need it. In order to have
more you have to be more. When you set goals
there are things you have to do to grow into the person who can
receive that goal. Wealthy people aren’t wealthy because
they have money; they have money because they are wealthy.
You have to develop a prosperity and abundance mindset in order to
attract what you want. You will only attract that which you
believe you deserve and are worthy of. That’s why most do
not receive all they could have.
This
is why the affirmations are so important. You start to change your
relationship to money and start to think abundantly. As you
re-program you will lift those self imposed limits. In the
workshop we can condition and train your mind to think abundantly.
If you don’t and you should receive a large sum of money, say in
the lottery or an inheritance, you will go through it in short
order. Because you have not allowed yourself to actually deserve
and be worthy of the money you will subconsciously have to
get rid of it to feel good about yourself again. Weird
isn’t it? And the same thing happens when people get
raises or increases in their income. They earn more money
but they just increase what they spend and still don’t have
anything. The mind and it’s thoughts are very powerful and
control everything we have and don’t have. If we learn to
discipline and control it we can be do and have anything we want.
What do you want?
